Baltic amber, known to gemologists as succinite, is fossilised resin from ancient conifer forests that grew around the Baltic Sea some 40 million years ago. Over millennia the resin hardened, mineralised and was carried by rivers and seas into the deposits mined today. It is remarkably light, warm to the touch, and glows from within — qualities no glass or plastic imitation can match.
